Dehydration in cats

Cats are desert animals, and by design, get by with little water. Their bodies adapted to get hydration from their meals. So if your cat eats dry foods, he/she can't get hydration that way. Some cats are not good at drinking water, which may cause chronic dehydration. That leads to concentrated urine and constipation, and eventually, it might cause kidney problems. There are ways to encourage your cat to drink more water. Some prefer running water and will drink from faucets. You can get a drinking fountain for those cats. Many don't like their water bowl by their food - you might try moving it to a different location. You can try offering broth. If nothing else works, try adding water and broth to their food. Keep them hydrated for long and healthy life.
